Our Ortega Christmas project is moving right along. We have created a healthy and well-balanced food basket to help feed an Ortega family for one week at a cost of $30. Our goal is to feed 25-30 families during the winter break, which is two weeks long. The families selected by the school to receive these baskets have children who eat a free or reduced breakfast and lunch during the school day and a free hot meal after school. For some of these children, winter break means going without food or eating junk food, like soda and chips, for a meal.
We will be selling our one week baskets at the Gifts-to-the-World Market for the next two Sundays (12/4 & 12/11). We will discuss our class contribution to this mission on Sunday.
