Please excuse this bowl game post, but here are this week's announcements.
There is not much to report this week, which is good. I think that everyone is probably needing a little time to recover from the holidays.
The church office will be closed until the 4th.
Brad will be teaching this Sunday on the series "Who Are We".
Don't forget to plan for the Honeymooners "Christmas" Party on January 22nd.
Here are a few words for the new year from Pamela C. Hawkins, Simply Wait
There may be no better prayer practice to begin a new Christian year than a daily office. A daily routine for prayer, something simple, predictable, on a set rhythm and schedule, can cultivate a deep practice of obedience: of listening for and hearing God’s presence in the daily. … The intent of practicing a daily office is to spend disciplined time with God, showing up at a set time alone or in community, so that a habit of prayer is established.
..How better to greet Immanuel, God-With-Us, in the new year than by daily practicing to be-with-God? May this rhythm of prayer, begun in Advent, help us “hear” God daily.
