Summary of Class with Pastors

John and Barbara came to our class today and flipped the tables a bit.  Rather than answer our questions, they wanted to get some answers from us.  They were primarily interested in finding out what attracted us to the church, and what has kept us here.  They also wanted to know what we saw as our vision/direction for the church.

Regarding looking at our church as a start up - Curtis indicated that he been a part of a discussion regarding the future of our church.  During this discussion, it was recommended that we might want to approach our church's issues by looking at ourselves as a start up church.  Many of us liked this perspective as it allowed you to look at everything with fresh eyes and opens you up to change rather than feeling limited by current procedures or being overwhelmed by the weight of the issues.

There was much discussion that followed about how WE can bring in new members and maintain our selves as a vibrant church in a downtown community.  Because of our location, we have high number of visitors each month.  Unfortunately, many of them do not come back.

I really liked Terrell's email and look forward to seeing where our class takes this.
